Shaintar_Legends Awaken_Mercenaries in Stahlheim

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

And Profit!

Long had I spent toiling away under that damned mountain. Always More they wanted, always More. The Blue Rock, The Lighted Crystal, they would send Me to the lowest tunnels, to use the pick, to carry The Rock. I was sent lower than I had ever gotten, to The Roots Of The Mountain, I felt strange. One Rock was calling towards Me, so I answered the call. When I woke up the rock was in pieces around Me, My presence must have destroyed it. I felt Powerful, I felt Strong, The Blue Rock must of done this to Me, I must have More. I must leave this place, they will never allow Me to have More, I am Powerful, I am Sneaky, I will Sneak out of here and leave this cursed place behind.

It must be late, the guards are sleepy, they turn their heads away from Me, they don't see Me leave. I see light, I see The Moons, I see all of Starfather's Creation. Up until this point all I remember is Dranik's halls. The Dwarves have always been kind to me, Sivok taught me his language, He said "Towards the rising of The Sun go.", so I went towards the rising of The Sun until I met The River. I found a tree branch that would not drop into the tears of The River, with it I walked over The River to The Grasses on the other side. I am cold, The Sun Warms Me, The Moons sap My Strength, I see a Barracks (but so few live there), this must be what Sivok called "A home". There are little ones, I can fit in their clothes, I must take them (May those who watch forgive me). Long I walked toward the rising of The Sun till I saw towards My Strength the Lonely Mountains My Friend Sivok told me were once his home! I miss My Friend who Walks with Dranik in His Halls. All I want is to do My Friend's Memory Justice. I will find His Home, and preserve His Name with all My Skill.

I am starving, I must eat or I will die. I see a Shining Sword, I follow Him, It might lead me to food. Shining Sword turns to me and asks "Are you hungry", I told Shining Sword "Yes!", now I eat meat and hear of a Way, Shining Sword says I can make Gold and I can Eat if I follow the Way! Shining Sword seems wise, I will listen to Shining Sword.

What vision of wonder! Another Goblin! He's kinda cute! But those Knuckles are so scarred, perhaps He will allow Me to aid in His recovery! Knuckles is not much of a drinker, He sleeps after 3 mugs, I snuggle with Him for warmth!

Sand Man sees our group. I never liked Sand Man's People, they trade in Slaves sometimes. He seems the quiet one. Sand Man's eyes are everywhere, He sees much.

Drink Son comes in and tries to buy Our Friendship with His Before Sires Ale. Drink Son's Before Sire must be a Great Dwarf if His Ale has anything to say. Drink Son has pudgy U-Man Elf-Kin with him, Many Many Others look at it with wide eyes and open mouths…I don't understand why.

Shining Sword has U-Man Child with Him. U-Man Child does what Shining Sword says, as it should be.

Shining Sword gives Me Clouds to sleep on, I have never slept on Clouds. Rocks hurt Me when I lie on them, Clouds Heal Me.

Flag Dwarf and Loud Dwarf met Us at "first" meal, Loud Dwarf said "To follow The Way You must Destroy the Enemy". He said "If We defeat the Enemy, We will receive Gold and Land". The Eyes of All were on Loud Dwarf and All agreed to Defeat the Enemy for this boon.

We followed Loud Dwarf to the Land and He showed us the Enemy, We fought and killed All the Enemy. The Enemy liked Me the least of My Friends, I must find out Why???

Balane: New Friends

Having recently graduated from the newly formed Academy of Magics in Echer' Naught I took a referal from Ash and headed with my page, Krieger, to Stahlheim to join a potential mercenary company.  Ash recommended it after saying "You're older than I am, time to DO something with your life.  Go make a difference!"  I had my page pack my belongings (including my tome indicating my first place graduation status, only to be expected of a Gloriel-Elen (golden star)).  Arriving in Stahlheim I immediately headed to an inn I was acquainted with and was pleasantly surprised that the young dwarf I knew was still running the inn albeit at a much more advanced age.  Before entering I spotted a young goblin who may or may not have been planning to pick my pocket.  Being the kind soul that I am I turned and invited him to come in and have a meal.  He seemed most appreciative.  I really should remember his name.  Another goblin and a dark human came in and I offered space at our table, correctly assuming that they were looking to join the company on the morrow.  And then "IT" happened.  A dwarf of some nobility entered and trailing behind him was the most exquisite creature I have seen in these many long years.  An Alakar whose name I later learned to be Elasha of surpassing beauty.  I had to muster all my years of life not to gape like a teenager.  We all enjoyed a pleasant evening of drink (the larger goblin passed out) and retired to our respective beds.  I was actually pleasantly surprised when a knock on my door led to the entrance of Elasha and a VERY pleasant night ensued.

The next day we met our Fyrforge commander who offered us a VERY lucrative deal.  Land and a 4 story large building for our headquarters in return for clearing out some minions of darkness and their necromancer master.  All of our companions acted well and most did extremely well in their assigned tasks.  Unfortunately Krieger, in a fit of overzealousness, managed to shoot our commnder in the back not once, but TWICE (fortunately with blunt arrows).  He is most sorry and will be taking remedial archery lessons.  Now we have the enjoyable task of working to outfit our new base.

Falling Ice 18th

Maybe it was fate destined for my faith to Murvoth but fortune was smiling on me in hindsight. Arriving at Stone I heard mentions of the Mayor and someone else I believe important arriving at the area seeking out Mercenaries. After wrangling a rowdy Orc it was a nice change of pace. Going to the Crown and Anvil I was happy to see Ol Kraken  Thunderstone again.  Two lambs and the new Hammerstein Gold edition was a hearty meal..something to always enjoy.  The code warned me to Fae, especially Eldakar with fancy gear. By the Murvoth the Eldakar was pleasant compared to the clinging Goblin who was getting too friendly.  His ways curse me..accepting the extra ale offered by the fellow who was an old friend of Kraken's named Balane.  Consuming enough rounds…I cannot recall sadly. Headed to my room after sleeping drunk for an hour, though.

Falling Ice 19th

A throbbing headache followed me waking up, however, I got to ironically meet a Hammerstein who appeared fascinated by the idea of becoming a mercenary as well. Two dwarves made our presence, Torben Fyrforg with his battle standard bearer Thronol Warfall…odd name.  An opportunity was presented before us to take care of undead and in exchange a potential land grant of sorts. Getting there they had quite the numbers, yet so did we as we saw this large structure of a building with them occupied.  Skeletons lacked aim I think, missing me considerably but that also a likelihood of my technique helping in defending myself. The flashy Eldakar took care of business, obliterating foes left and right. His page, servant…whatever he was did not share the same talent. Instead he continued to and to my amazement incapacitate Torben Fyrforg by striking him twice thankfully with blunt arrowheads

Thronol the battle standard bearer took a butchers worth of axe chopping, shredding his shoulder and clanking against armor. The code despite my cautious nature demanded I enter the frey and protect him. Visualizing how he punches, I stepped forward with a power jab to crush one of the nasties of darkness.  The Desert Prince horse archer got a few good shots in, destroying sternums excellently.  My rapid flurries of punches help either finish or daze the undead. Mallor healed the Thornol instantly with a cloth…maybe magic in it? Hard to think when everyone I believed had a nauseating feeling grip us..coming from the necromancer.  Knowing the small homeless goblin healed, they burrowed a few arrows into him…… He tougher than I thought.

Sir Hammerstein changed the odds by cracking the skeletonal necromancer in the skull, breaking off parts of him too. Mallor screamed in my ear..hurting my eardrugs hard…wasn't a normal thing. Though the nauseating was gone and my ears hurt, I saw the Sorcerer slaughter the necromancer with violet magical flames shot at him like crossbow bolts.  The necromancer had night chain I wanted..excited to be given it. Okay Eldakar might be okay by me. Looting and looking at the place…I laughed seeing the Fyrforg hit the human ward, sex slave..whatever he was. Tasked with making more of this placed…each given 50 gold and do what we wished to advance it… Oh and a stampede of cattle led by a Smart Bull came to Sir. Hammerstein. Weird Day!!! We are now the Oathkeepers with the headquarters of Oath Keep…heh

Exploring The Keep!
And Wolf Steaks!!!

Shining Sword and Knuckles went into the Forest. Drink Son and I were waiting around when Sand Man left to go to town. After a few hours we saw the figure of Gleaming Dwarf coming towards us. Gleaming Dwarf has The Crystal in his armor. I like Gleaming Dwarf. After Shining Sword and Knuckles returned, the all of us except Knuckles started to explore this keep. We found a well stocked Forge and Armory. I am looking for the caves that were my home for My Entire Life, unfortunately the base of The Keep is bedrock.

We had explored the entire Keep when Pudgy U-man Elf-kin spied smoke in the near forest and We decided to investigate. Knuckles was treed by a Wolf-Pack. We had to kill the starving creature lest they eat us.

Fuller's Log
The founding of Oath Keep Day one

After meeting with everyone that was wanting to found a mercenary group and dispatching the necromancer and its foul mob, we were deeded a large manor house, a bit dusty, might have to hire some servants just for cleaning.. Well we rested the night and well had a party of sorts. then came the fun of starting to inventory the place and check out all the rooms in it, I was fascinated by a dwarf that wore some odd armor that apparently was some Builder tech.. not sure what that is.. well in the searching we found a suit of armor similar to his but of better quality. and as none one else could use it and we need to have our folks as equipped as possible I told him he could use it, he seemed very excited about that. Also he started cleaning and refurbishing all the weapons we found as soon as we stopped. I think the group will form up well, once we start working as a team more instead of going seperate ways, sometime while we were mapping the manor out we heard my Ranger calling for everyone due to smoke off to the east. when we gathered we were all there that was around except for the Goblin follower of the code of Murvoth.. Well we went out to see what the smoke was and found him treed by a pack of wolves, after a tense few moments the 20 wolves were dead and one horse had become a chew toy for a couple of them in the process.. We got some funds from the pelts and the meat, and had a bit of a party again.. I guess I will stroll around the training area in the basement then go to town and attempt to hire some folks to clean, cook, tend the cattle, maybe find a cheese maker willing to come and stay to make cheese for us and they could sell some of it for their salary and the rest sold to go into the money for paying the other folks. Also a butcher will likely come in handy.. hmm mayhap I could find a family of folks that would do the tasks for a place to stay with food and drink….

The Start of the Oathkeepers

Falling Ice 19th

Left for  the afternoon after seizing control of the building, impressed by how much wildlife seems to flourish right near us. By Shayline's tit having Balane slowed the progress slightly as the flora was decent and the terrain was mapped well enough. Muttering some magical essence mess of a source of energy..think he called filaments and loci surrounding different areas within a mile or two.  Returning I glanced to see another Dwarf I swore was a builder based on that foreign magical like armor I fought against a few Prelacy folk during the Crimson Crusade…they called it arcmancy.  Amusing fellow based on banter..might be a decent addition hearing he an engineer or smith in  a way. That evening after looking about we found a smithy, sleeping as it felt secured enough for the meanwhile.

Falling Ice 20th

Morning greeted me like an Ogre's arse so pretty much bad feeling too crowded. Knowing the map felt mediocre despite doing grand for my limited resources I fled the headquarters and went out to scout head and better craft a map. Lord Fyrforg was helpful the prior day, all the rooms shown on the blueprints he handed. Should entertain the others for days.   Traversing I felt an uneasy feeling as the map improved in quality. About a few minutes later I knew why…. it was a sodding wolf pack probably one of the three noted from surveying the area.  Climbing up a tree higher than them, I lit a signal fire with a branch. Time passed, I grew bored of the pack of twenty. I killed each with more or less with my knives..even the willowed burnt branch killed one…Murvoth would be proud.

My fellow mercs stampeded into their hunting den, distracted to go after them. Balane had more guts than most his kind, charging the frey unleashing heavy surge of magic to clean out their numbers.  Admittedly Kreiger frightened me with his bowmanship, yet his abilities on horseback were impressive.  Shame the fae horse was torn into pieces by the damn canines, though gave me time to jump down and crush one on the way down.  The others killed their numbers in the distance, with only a dead horse as the price to pay…well did until the heavy amount of pelts and meat were proper payments to get another horse to him.  Crafting them a grand sled, we dragged them on the powerful Bull Sir Hammerstein had tamed…I think? Money was shared and all we needed were more bodies on our side now . Oh and this place we called Oathkeep is huge!!!!!!!!!

Balane: Wolf Pack
Well, I got a new horse......

the larger of the 2 Goblins proved most useful in exploring the local area.  His maps were well drawn and I managed to map out several filaments and even two loci within a mile or so of Oath Keep.

A new dwarf arrived wearing builder armor of all things!  After exploring the keep we even found an old suit of environmentally contained builder armor.

The larger Goblin was missing when we saw smoke over the hills.  Riding out we found our friend up a tree surrounded by a pack of wolves.  I must admit I surprised myself a bit when I charged in and scattered the pack slaying several with magic while my compatriots picked the pack apart.  Unfortunately Rochir was torn to pieces beneath me.  A bit of good luck, the wolf pelts, meat, etc. were more than enough to get me a new horse as well as a bonus for everyone.

Left Ears

After discussing what We would do as to the upkeep of The Keep, We decided that we would need some more income. We traveled to Stone and found a caravan company headed for Craig. On the third night out we were accosted by a large group of dwarves. The Druids of Dranik made short work of them. When the rest of the group went to lie down I remembered what Sivok told Me "When collecting bounties you must bring back proof of the kill, take their left ears", so I did just that. I am glad I did, We were rewarded 600 gold for it. I will turn over the lions share to The Oathkeepers for the upkeep of Our Keep.
